Ohio Pay Stub Protection Act
On January 8th, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed the Pay Stub Protection Act, which establishes a requirement that employers with at least one employee must provide each employee with written or electronic access to a statement of the employee’s earnings and deductions for each pay period on the employer’s regular paydays.
Effective Date
This new law takes effect on April 8, 2025 and the pay statements must include the following information:
- Employee Name
- Employee Adress
- Employer Name
- Total gross wages earned by the employee during the pay period
- Total net wages earned by the employee during the pay period
- A listing of the amount and purpose of each deduction or addition to wages paid to the employee during the pay period
- Date the employee was paid and date the pay period covers
For Hourly employees, the new statements must also include:
- Total number of hours the employee worked during the period
- Total number of Overtime hours, (over 40), in one workweek
- Hourly rate the employee was paid
Implication to Stakeholders
This new law establishes a process for employees to report violations to the Ohio Director of Commerce, after making a written request to receive statements within 10 days.
