Not only is the prior authorization process complex, but it is also costly, laborious, and time-consuming to navigate successfully. According to the 2023 AMA Prior Authorization Physician Survey, physicians and their staff spend 12 hours per week completing prior authorizations, with almost all reporting physician burnout as a result.
